Javier Tebas: "Valencian society should have a little more patience with the situation"

The LaLiga president talks about Valencia CF and Peter Lim in an interview with Fútbol Jobs Magazine

LaLiga president Javier Tebas gave an interview with Fútbol Jobs Magazine this week, which included the subject of Valencia CF and majority shareholder Peter Lim.

Peter Lim's arrival

"When Mr. Lim arrived, there were 25,000 people in the stadium applauding him. Football is a rollercoaster. With Mateu Alemany and Marcelino things picked back up, they applauded him again and Lim was the best..."

Foreign majority shareholders
"When people ask me about foreign owners, I'm not worried. They talk as if them being foreign makes them worse than those from Spain. I don't want to say the names of Valencia CF presidents who have been a disaster and aren't fit to lace Mr. Lim's boots. This has nothing to do with whether he is foreign or not. You have to bear in mind that this year Valencia CF have suffered a double pandemic: The Covid-19 pandemic, which means that fans can't come to the stadium, and the sporting pandemic of not qualifying for the Champions League -which has meant a drop in income of more than 120 million euros."

Adjustments to make a sustainable project

"Valencia CF have done what they had to do: Sell players, lower the wage bill for the squad and compete. Here we don't let the clubs lose money and get into a vicious circle of constantly losing money. I think that Valencian society should have a little more patience with the situation that exists now and, for me, them saying that this is a normal situation for Valencia CF seems not to perfectly reflect what is happening. Football is a rollercoaster.
